Bug? Shaded view of model is also shown for inactive groups (by Daniel M.)
Hi,
I am playing with a design study and have noticed that inactive groups are still displayed in the shaded model. Same goes for edges of solid model.

I was expecting that inactive groups are invisible/hidden. In the attached graphics, this would apply to the red part and its sketch.

Is this intended? Or is it a bug? How can I hide something entirely?

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

OK, it says explicitly in the reference docs that this is by design:
"In addition to the above options, it is possible to hide and show entire groups. If a group is hidden, then all of the entities (line segments, circles, arcs, points, etc.) from that group are hidden. The solid model is not affected; if a hidden group contains a circle that is extruded to form a cylinder, then the cylinder will remain visible."

Maybe this could be implemented in a next version?

The solid model is the cumulative "feature linked list" of each group's solid model, combined as Boolean union or difference. So the solid model from a single group is neither shown nor hidden, always just combined into that cumulative final model. You can exclude a group's solid model by setting "suppress" in that group's browser screen, though.

Thanks for your explanation, Jonathan. And it sounds like "suppress" would do exactly what I need, however, I can't find that option?! Is it a checkbox? In the Property Browser?
Your help is much appreciated!

In the browser; but until 3.0, I'm afraid it's available only for linked models (like parts in an assembly), not extrudes or lathes.

This is the first time I hear about plans for an upcoming v3.0! That is exciting news! Is there any release schedule yet? Any plans about new features and bugs to fix?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Daniel
