Beginner: extrude causes crash on circle (by Hugo Ferreira)
Hello,
I am trying to see how best to draw "tubes". In the attached file I have 3 vertical tubes that I wan to connect with a revolve (shift-V). To do this I select/activate "g00d". I then select the vertical line at the center if that plane's circle and press shift-V and after about a 1 second the application crashes.
I am using version 3.2~81f473ff. I have it installed in Ubuntu 24.04.04 LTS via package manager.
I would also like to ask if anyone has notes or demos on drawing tube/profile extrusions frames because the workflow I came up with is slow and cumbersome. Most likely there is a much better way to go about it.

I might be wrong, since I’m a beginner too, but since no one else has chimed in, I’ll give it a shot. (Worst case scenario, I’ll get an earful again). Personally, I’d try constructing those pipes using a "draw-as-you-go" method—meaning a straight pipe, then an elbow, then another straight pipe, and so on. I believe joining elements is only possible if they are in separate files. Good luck!

Appreciate the help. I tried as you suggested. I realized that my initial attempt was using an incorrect rotation axis. After correcting this I am able to form an "elbow".
However, the revolve seems to be limited to a single work-plane. It also revolves all entities in the work-plane (including construction lines). So setting up these pipes becomes very confusing (and cumbersome) for me. I can't help but think there is a better way to do this.
Going to the online tutorials and see what I can figure out.

I happen to be experimenting with tubes myself, so I can show you what I managed to cobble together—though it was a real struggle. I’m not even sure I could replicate it all. It was a while ago; it’s meant to be a component for my folding sailing dinghy, which I’m constantly modifying.
The season is winding down, so maybe I’ll force myself to put in some more mental effort. Apparently, that helps retirees. You’ve given me a bit of motivation ;-)
