length of a interpolating C2 cubic spline (by Mark)
Is it possible for solvespace to show me the length of a (fully constrained) a interpolating C2 cubic spline ?
If that is possible, next step would be to constrain the length of some straght line (or other dimension) with the spline, and having the solver solve that. This might be a very tough job given the number of variables. Can other cad programs do this ?

It should be possible to see it. Under the Analyze menu there is a Show Perimeter option.

Unfortunately since there is no closed form algebraic formula for the length of a cubic spline we can not make a constraint using the length.

The perimeter calculated will be based on the piecewise linear version of the curve used for display and triangulation. It will be more accurate with a lower chord tolerance setting.

thanks!
The Analyze -> Show Perimeter function works for me, with the default chord tolerance setting of 0.1 %.
