Guidelines for rotating 3d view (by Clinton Winant)
I find it difficult to get a view I want by dragging mouse wheel. Is there a summary description of different movements? What happens if the mouse is dragged up/down or left/right or a combination? Are there exercises so I can familiarize myself?
I would love it if the View manu included "standard views"?

On the toolbar to the left, the bottom 2 icons will bring you to the nearest isometric view or axial aligned view.
When rotating with the mouse, imagine your sketch is inside a large transparent ball. If you click and drag (middle mouse button / scroll wheel) you are dragging the surface of that ball with the sketch inside. There is no need to point at any particular part of the sketch, this movement is based strictly on this mouse moving the ball idea and in no way drags a specific part of the sketch.
Hope that helps!
