Help with step rotating group (by Clinton Winant)
The drawing represents the left side of a box (other sides along z not shown) and I need to step rotate the two distinct objects separately because they have a slightly different length.
I thought I would begin with the lower plate, so set up a z-axis at the mid-point of that object. To point to the correct group, I selected g003 extrude which should be the bottom plane.
I select the datum point and the axis parrallel to z, but the other object (most recently built) has been rotated.
Should I have done the step rotation before building the secong object? That would be easy enough...

The Step-Rotating operation is always applied to the active group. Using your existing file I was able to (in the text window) select the first extrusion group, make it active by clicking the little circle/radio button, and then make a rotated copy. This new group comes after all the others, but it's parent is further up. The group/history is technically a tree even though it appears as a list. BTW when you go to constrain something in a group, that group must be the active group, but you are free to navigate the groups via the text window to get the one you want.
