workplane (by william)
ihave a few questions about workplanes in solvespace

why do they (plural) exist? if i am creating multiple objects, are not they all created in an imaginary space....all similar in that they have an origin with three perpendicular axises? so why need to define a workspace? how do i put an object i craeted without a workspace into a workspace?

in an attempt to learn how to use solvespace i created two extruded objects. i can rotate but cn't seem to select just one of the two objects. i wanted to make sure i had control over two objects before assembling them together. i just realized that somehow these two objects were grouped by me. i need to ungroup them.

when i group the two objects so that they become one object i got the sense that i needed to create a new file. that way i preserve the integrity of each object, is my guess. so i should have created a file for each object and not just drawn them on the same workspace?

btw i love how, despite my challenges of using solvespace, i am greatly enjoying using it.

Watch videos on youtube (by dadoprom)
Hi, learn by watching videos on youtube about how to use solvespace. Once you get the logic it is super easy. Look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...hPAIPvozJkNN828FaI&index=2

How to move new group (by Clinton Winant)
I need to add end plates like the one shown in dark gray, to the end of a pair of groups (shown in light gray). In both tries I started with a new workplane parallel to yz-plane and located at x=0. On my first try (not shown) I started with a 2d sketch tucked right up against the light gray geometry, but I could not extrude properly, possibly because some much different geometry lies in the xy plane.

To avoid this I tried do draw the shape of the end plate slightly away from the light gray groups. Then I can extrude, however I cannot move the new shape into position?

Obviously I am missing something??

I had no trouble extruding the last group of the file you included. First I constrained one point onto an existing point on the end of an extrusion. Because the shape has dimensions I just extruded at that point. There is no need to add all those dimensions when you can just constrain points to the existing ones from prior groups. This will ensure exact alignment of the old and new extrusions. See the attached update.

Just to say thanks again, in this case the solution doesn't reflect the real part. There the end piece cap fits snuggly at the very end, but still inside, the light gray group.
