Possible to make a conical spring? (by Sam)
Hello,
I'm pretty new to parametric CAD design (even CAD in general) and just found SolveSpace a couple of days ago, but after a couple of days with SolveSpace I was already able to make a decent speaker model that I am pleased with.

I stumbled across making a toroid while trying to create the speaker and found a way to make a regular cylindrical spring, but I was curious:

Has anyone ever made or tried to make a conical spring?

I did a quick search and found this picture to show what I mean:

I had a small model of a batter holder I made in Blender and thought it would be nice to recreate it with a spring in it as well. I can always fall back to making an assembly of appropriate sized toroids, but I would definitely appreciate any thoughts or suggestions as a one piece spring would be much better.

Sam,

Unfortunately I don't think a conical spring is a possibility right now. I know there's been some work on skewed extrusions but I don't think that's quite what you're looking for either.

Daniel,
I appreciate the response, it didn't seem like there was a specific way to do it but I thought I would ask. I can just make a few helices of varying sizes and then place them close to one another to perhaps give an illusion, but I may very well use some toroids in the same manner, but with spaces between them. It would just be graphical most likely anyway. Either way, have a great day.
