Issue with constrain on plain in first tutorial. (by Wout)
I've been going through the bracket tutorial and ran into an issue when trying to constrain the circles for the holes on the plane on the inside of the part:
> Then choose Constrain → On Plane. This places the point on the plane, which sets the extrude depth and direction as desired.
I always got an "Unresolvable constraints" error, even after trying multiple times and starting over completely. Has something changed since the tutorial was written? Or may there be something I'm overlooking?

The plane for constraining the holes is the face on the other side the bracket from the one the holes are drawn on. It should turn yellow when the cursor is over it. You need to drag the model in rotation to see this face.

Yeah, that's what I tried multiple times now. I drew the circles on a workplane aligned with the outside of the leg, then selected the centre of a circle and the inside of the leg on the other side. Then Constrain -> On Plane (O), but I always get a "SOLVE FAILED! error. I just tried again, this time without applying the constraints to the circles. I've attached the file. I feel I'm missing something essential.

You have to rotate your view so that you can see the outside of the other side of the leg. The only way I can get a solve fail is by selecting the side face of the bracket, and this makes sense as that defines a plane parallel to the extrude, and which is not intersected by the axis of the extrude.
A constrained version is attached.

The image on the home page (https://solvespace.com) is a video of the bracket tutorial. At around 2:00 you can see that constraint being created.

Thanks, that was really helpful. Now I got it working.
I think I know what went wrong. Before, I selected the centre outside edge, point and upper edge on the outside to sketch in a new workplace, and I couldn't apply the constraint. Now, I selected the outside centre edge and point plus the upper edge on the inside of the leg, and I could create the constraint.
So, supposedly, I was stuck in a 2D workplane?
