DOF definition? (by Charles Bradshaw)
I'm working with the python version of solvespace exposed. I am having difficulty understanding what solvespace system dof property reports as the number remaining.
I define a single point. Before applying any constraints a DOF of 8 is reported. After applying a SLVS_C_WHERE_DRAGGED constraint the reported DOF is 6.
This makes no sense by my understanding of degrees of freedom. The numbers should be 3 before and 0 after. Can someone (Jonathan) explain please.

Is it a point in a workplane? Then you'd have 6DOF (3 rotational and 3 translational) for the workplane and 2 for the point, which would be consistent with your observations.

Thanks Tom, that explains my observation perfectly.
