extrusion lines, lines at crossing surfaces (by Helmut Raulien)
Hi! I have version 2.3., and want to ask, whether the following problems are avoidable, or do not appear anymore in version 3.:

1. Besides every extruded or lathed object there is a line or a circle, so in the DXF of the assembly, I have to delete lots of them. This is manageable, ok, but:

2. Two 3D- objects, assembled overlappingly, do not have lines where surfaces cross. These lines are needed, though.

Best,
Helmut

I'd like to start with some clarification. There are 2 kinds of lines or curves you may be referring to. First are sketch entities - the kind of thing you create with the mouse and can apply constraints to. Second are actual edges of the solid model.

When you create an lathe or extrude, the 3d group will have both types of lines/curves. In particular every point in the base sketch will generate a circle entity in a lathe group. Entities can be turned off in the text window, either by unchecking groups or by clicking "hide all" on the home screen.

The solid model edges have a number of visibility options on the toolbar at the top of the text window (more options in version 3). But if your create an assembly by linking different slvs files there will be "missing" edges where objects intersect unless you set the group option "solid model as" to "union" rather than "assembly".

Lastly, I don't think there is any reason not to update to version 3.0. There are a LOT of bug fixes, usability improvements, and new features. Compatibility with existing sketches/models from version 2.3 is almost perfect.

Thank you, Paul, that helped me a lot. I will update after my current project is finished.
