new git hosting provider (by Jonathan Westhues)
Looks like gitorious is shutting down:

So I need a new git host. Suggestions? If none then I'll probably just move to github, less ideologically pure but more convenient.

Is there an issue with gitlab? My little bit of reading seems to show that it started as an attempt to be a more ideologically pure github clone.
But I have no real experience with any of the git hosts. I have to reread git tutorials every time I submit a change to you.

Gitlab is very buggy. I've migrated my repositories but it just 500's every so often. I like the idea of Github migration.

GitLab is doing the split thing now, free and non-free versions, not necessarily sustainable. GitHub is pure commercial SaaS, but it's nicer. So I've moved to it,
