Black windows, no icons Windows 11 (by Paul)
Hello,

I am trying to use Solvespace V3.1 on Windows 11. When it starts it shows the two windows but there are no icons, text etc.

I tried Solvespace 2.x and it works fine.

I have a Ryzen 7 5700G. Looks like I am running OpenGL 3.3?

I saw another entry stating this and tried downgrading Adrenaline but that did not work.

I just started using Solvespace and I really do love it. It is just what I was looking for. So I hope this can be solved so I can use the latest version.

Any help much appreciated.

Paul

It sounds like you are running into this issue:

https://github.com/solvespace/solvespace/issues/1278

It is dependent on which version of the.AMD driver you are using. Other applications (Blender) had issues as well, but whatever their fix was did not help solvespace.

Our openGL and platform specific code is actually quite small, so anyone who might be able to help solve this issue is encouraged to try. I wish we were high profile enough to get AMD to have a look ;-)

You can use my unofficial build for OpenGL 1 and Windows XP. It will work.

Hello,

Thanks for the prompt reply, much appreciated.

I tried the unofficial build for XP and it is working.

So I will give it a try. I just bought a 3D Printer and was looking around to see what was out there for designing my own parts. I have some experience with Autocad for 2D but this is the first time I am looking at 3D modelling.

I am looking at FreeCAD and Alibre Atom 3D but SolveSpace seems to fit with the way I think things should work from my perspective being a newbie.

Keep up the great work. I hope the issue with OpenGL gets fixed someday.
