SpaceMouse on Wayland/Fedora (by Paul)
How does one use the spacemouse on Linux? There was a recent PR to make it work under wayland in addition to X. I've got one now, but it's not doing anything.

May I point you at the build instructions. Spacemouse support is optional, so you may have to build it yourself.

3Dconnection mouse works under Manjaro for me on the latest MP Version.

I am building from source. Made sure I have libspnav-devel package installed on Fedora (it wasn't). Deleted my build folder and started over. The output of cmake includes this:

Found SpaceWare: /usr/lib64/libspnav.so

The build goes fine but I don't see any messages related to libspnav. Sovespace runs but the spacemouse doesn't do anything.

OK, I had to actually start it via: sudo spacenavd -v -d

Now it works. Is there a way to change the sensitivity of it? Also once the sketch goes flying off somewhere zoom-to-fit doesn't always bring it back. What tips do you have on using this thing ;-)

Use a veeeery light touch on the cap.

Imagine that the cap of the SpaceMouse is the model on the screen that you are holding in your hand. Move the cap as you would to examine it. This is the main abstraction.

If you have access to a Windows machine install the 3dconnexion drivers and run the interactive tutorial - it helps a lot.

Sensitivity is adjustable in the official Windows drivers but I do not know how to do it in spacenavd.

I was thinking about config options for separate translation and rotation sensitivity.

I remember some kind of gui to adjust the spacemouse.

it might have been https://github.com/FreeSpacenav/spnavcfg

WOrks really well here. Except when importing parts for assembly, its not rotating the view anymore but the part itself but thats ok.
