aligning extrudes (by Mark Chambers)
I would like to align the bottom of the g005 extrude with the top of the g003 extrude in the attached model.
Every way I've tried to constrain the two extrudes results in the red screen of death.
Can someone explain the right way to do this?
Thanks

You somehow have 2 vertical constraints in this area of your sketch [1]

Clicking on the V and removing it solves the problem.

When you get the red screen, it means your sketch is over constrained, and it shows you a list of constraints from which you can remove one to correct your sketch.

I wonder how you got 2 vertical constraints on there though...

You need to keep the bottom of the sketch g0004 level with the top of g0003, and skew the top to the required angle. That is draw g0004 in the correct relationship to g0003.

re: aligning extrudes (by Mark Chambers)
Koen, Thank you for your input. However, after removing the redundant vertical constraint the problem remains; I either get a message that I've chosen the wrong constraint mechanism or the red screen of death.

Andrew, I don't understand what you're suggesting. How will keeping the bottom of g004 level with the top of g003 give me the angle on the top of goo3 that I want? Skew the top of what? What is the correct relationship? Can you point me to something in the Reference or tutorials that will make it clearer?

Thanks

Sorry,Ive looked at the sketch again and see what you problem is. I assume you want to cut from the edge of g0003. To do this, make the edge of the sketch, g0004, pass through the edge of the extrusion. You can achieve this by adding a midpoint on the relevant edge of gooo3, and then constrain the bottom line of the sketch to pass through that point.
