point can be dragged beyond line ends (by u6006)
When testing the simple gas strut like linkage implemented by point-on-line constraint, the point can be dragged beyond the line ends.
I'm running v2.1 in mac os x v10.9.
Is this by design or a bug?

By design. All constraints work in the way that avoids as much as possible discontinuities and changes in the number of constrained degrees of freedom.

Thanks Jonathan for the quick response.
What else can be the workarounds besides by using two compression springs like linkages to attach one end to the sliding point and the other ends to two fixed points to confine it to going beyond them
