Trouble with Extruding a Difference (by Joseph)
Hello,
I'm having trouble using the "difference" option of extrude, per the tutorial here:
http://solvespace.com/bracket.pl
When I create my second sketch which is to be the cut, everything goes well. When I try to extrude it however, it instead creates a wire-frame of the existing piece, offset the distance of the extrusion. This happens regardless of if I set the extrude to union or difference. I am unsure of the issue.
The piece I am working on is currently hollow, with several internal chambers. I'm trying to remove half of the cylinder, so that those chambers are exposed.
See attached image.
Thoughts?

To create the sketch for the extrusion you have to create a new group, sketch in new work plane, rather than selecting a plane for sketch in plane, and drawing in 3d.
The property browser should show:-
g001-preferences
g002-sketch-in-plane
g003-extrude
g004-sketch-in-plane
g005-extrude
Also, if you are sketching in 3d, the lines will be green, indicating construction lines.

Thanks, Andrew! That did the trick.
