spacenavd in ubuntu 16.04 (by Ian)
hello,

I am trying to get a spacemouse working in linux. I have installed spacenavd and libspnav-dev via apt-get:
spacenavd : 0.6-1
libspnav-dev : 0.2.3-1

the spacemouse works as expected in blender with no adjustments necessary.

I built solvespace from source (v2.1.rc1-146-gffd9c62) according to the readme. when I run cmake .. -DENABLE_TESTS=OFF, in the output I notice that SPACEWARE is found at /usr/lib/libspnav.so

however, when I launch solvespace, the spacemouse does not work. Are there additional build steps or launch flags required to enable this?

Thanks,
Ian

There should be no special steps, but Space Navigator support is extremely finicky for some reason. Try stopping spacenavd and restarting it from a terminal in your DE.

@whitequark - Thanks for the quick response!

I've tracked down the issue, it has to do with getting my .Xauthority file into the root directory.
